October Astrology: Forward Momentum, a Spicy Full Moon, and Scorpio Season

10.6 - New Moon in Libra + Pluto goes direct

On October 6, we have a powerful new moon in peaceful, relationship-oriented Libra. Not only will the sun + moon be in Libra, but we also will find Mars (the planet of action + will + drive) and Mercury (the planet of communication) in the mix as well. Mercury will still be retrograde, adding to the reflective energy of the new moon.

New moons provide us a blank slate to call in what we would like to manifest + bring into our lives. This particular new moon is a time to reflect on what we would like to call into our relationships - what energies we would like to work with over the next 6 months until the full moon in Libra on April 16 2022.

10.7 - Venus enters Sagittarius

Venus will be in Sagittarius from October 7 - November 5.

Venus in Sagittarius is all about adding variety, spontaneity, joy, optimism, and abundance into our relationships. Sagittarius is the sign associated with travel and higher education and philosophy, so it could be a good time to hop on a plane or take a fun class or have a deep conversation with your lover. Make sure that you are keeping your side of the street exciting and not solely expecting all of the newness to come from your partner.

10.10 - Saturn goes direct

Saturn has been retrograde in Aquarius since May 23rd, giving us an opportunity for deep inner work. To contemplate our relationship with persistence, dedication, hard work. Being in the sign of Aquarius, the individual + the revolutionary + the humanitarian, it has asked us to consider how we are disciplined in being truly authentic and doing what we can to help those in need.

As Saturn goes direct on 10/10, we are urged to take outward action. To fully and truly show up as ourselves. To take action in humanitarian efforts. To do what we can to raise the vibration of the collective.

10.18 - Mercury + Jupiter go direct

Mercury has been retrograde since September 27. Jupiter has been retrograde since June 20.

The final Mercury retrograde of 2021 comes to an end, and everyone can breathe a sigh of relief (until mid January when it rolls around again). Mercury made its way back to 10 degrees Libra, so when it turns direct, it will have another full 20 degrees (until November 5th) to traverse through Libra again, giving us a chance to speak our truth within our relationships. All of the inner work we have been doing now has the opportunity to be expressed outwardly. We have had our time to journal, to reflect, to contemplate, and now we are equipped with the ability to speak clearly to what it is we have been mulling over.

10.20 - Full Moon in Aries

Oof one of the spiciest (if not the spiciest) full moon of the year. This full moon occurs on the Aries/Libra axis (the sun is in Libra, the moon is in its opposite sign, Aries).

Libra is all about the other. Its focus is on maintaining peace, harmony, and beauty within relationships. Aries, on the other hand, is about the self. It is the first sign of the zodiac - nothing came before it - and its focus is on funnelling its fiery passion into the world. It is here to start things, to light a fire under our asses, and to remind us that being “selfish” is not necessarily always a bad thing.

This full moon might bring up tension in relationships, so mark your calendar. Schedule a workout or a walk or something that allows any excess energy to have an outlet, rather than coming out at your partner or close friends.

10.23 - Scorpio season begins

Scorpio season spans from October 23 - November 21 this year.

On the 23rd we move out of peaceful, harmonizing Libra into deep, transformative Scorpio. Scorpio is associated with the shadow. With bringing light to the truth. With being brave enough to face the parts of ourselves and others and life in general that we might rather sweep under the rug. This month gives us the chance to do some deep healing, and to come out the other side lighter and brighter, but only if we are willing to do the work and get uncomfortable.

10.30 - Mars enters Scorpio

Mars will move through Scorpio from October 30 - December 12.

In Greek mythology, Mars was the god of war, and in astrology, it gives us the drive + will + determination of a warrior. Moving through Scorpio, it can instill us with the bravery we need to face ourselves. This will be a helpful (albeit potentially intense) addition to the sun moving through Scorpio as well.
