July’s New Moon in Cancer : Turning Feelings into Action
We have an extra potent new moon, folks. Anytime the moon finds itself in its rulership sign of Cancer. (Each sign is ruled by one or two planets, and Cancer is ruled solely by the moon).
As a water sign, Cancer tends to be associated with sensitivity and the ability to feel deeply. It is the sign most closely linked with family and home life and nurturing.And as a cardinal sign, it is motivated to take action and initiate.
This new moon will highlight each of those themes.
NURTURE YOURSELF
Cancer is known as the mother, or the nurturer, of the zodiac. Often when we think of those words, we think about mothering or nurturing others. And while that's not wrong, we often overlook the fact that in order to be there for others, we first have to mother/nurture ourselves.
During this new moon, contemplate the ways that you can take care of yourself.
Maybe that means cooking yourself a nourishing meal. Maybe that means saying no to an obligation that you know will drain you. Maybe that looks like a bath. Take time to do whatever it is that allows you to feel looked after and cared for.
POUR INTO YOUR HOME + FAMILY
Like I said above, Cancer is associated with the home and family (4th House territory). This new moon is a wonderful time to pour into them.
And family is not limited to (nor does it even have to include) the people who we are biologically linked to. This extends to anyone who we feel safe enough to truly be ourselves around.
Maybe you schedule a call/date with one of those people or write them a note letting them know what the mean to you. Maybe you simply clean your home, or buy something small that lifts the energy of your space.
TURN FEELINGS INTO ACTION
This new moon is making a couple aspects to other planets, one of which is Uranus - the planet of great change and individuality. I like to think of Uranus as the planet that shakes shit up.
With that, can we use this time to not only connect with how we feel and with what is coming up for us emotionally, but also to take action (remember Cancer is a cardinal, action-taking sign). Uranus is pushing us towards making the necessary changes - towards shaking shit up so that we can move past this feeling of being "stuck".
