February 2022 Astrology

2.1 - New Moon in Aquarius

New moons are times for setting intentions. For planting seeds that we want to grow. For introspection.

Aquarius is the sign of the rebel, the revolutionary, the individual, the exile, the innovator, the genius.  It’s the sign that reminds us to be ourselves, regardless of the opinions of others.  It asks us to look at life with fresh eyes.  To think outside the box.  To tap into our unique gifts, and to share them with the collective. To not get stuck in the past but rather focus on creating a better future.  And not only a better future for ourselves, but a better future for all.

New moons are always a time of introspection.  A time for new beginnings.  They provide us a blank slate.  A time to plant the seeds that we want to nourish and grow. This particular new moon is a good time to to get clear on who it is we want to be in this world.  What we want our future to look like.  How we are getting stuck in stories, narratives, or situations that happened in the past. And instead, how can we redirect that energy, and focus on creating that better future for ourselves and for the collective?

2.3 - Mercury goes direct in Capricorn
(aka retrograde ends!)

Mercury has been retrograde since January 14. The next Mercury retrograde cycle won’t happen until May 10.

Hallelujah! Praise be! I don’t know about you, but this past Mercury retrograde cycle has been realllllly doing me dirty. I’m over the technical glitches, the travel hiccups, the contracts falling through, and all the other bumps in the road that Mercury retrograde throws at us. It will go direct in Capricorn, motivating us to focus on our goals, our work, and what we want to accomplish in the coming months.

2.14 - Mercury re-enters Aquarius

Mercury re-enters Aquarius and will move through until March 9 when it enters Pisces.

When Mercury re-enters Aquarius, our mental energy will shift out of the Capricorn goal-setting mode to the Aquarian individualistic/rebellious mode. It will push us to think outside the box. To get innovative and creative. To be true to ourselves, and to express that truth. To not be afraid of ruffling some feathers or making others uncomfortable if it means we are honoring who we are in doing so.

2.16 - Full Moon in Leo

Full moons are a time for releasing. For letting go of what doesn’t serve us. For shedding the layers that are weighing us down.

During any given full moon, tensions + emotions are heightened, as the sun and the moon oppose one another. This full moon in Leo has extra tension added to it because the sun + moon will be squaring the nodes.

The nodes have to do with karma (South Node) and destiny (North Node). Squares can feel intense and uncomfortable, but the point of them is to push us towards growth and evolution. There will be opportunity for karmic reckoning. A chance to move past things that have held us back (in this lifetime and past) so that we can instead head in the direction of our destiny. A moment to allow ourselves to really get vulnerable - showing and expressing who we truly are, rather than the version of ourselves that we know will gain acceptance and approval from others.

2.16 - Venus + Mars conjunction in Capricorn

From February 7 - March 19, Venus and Mars will be within a 2 degree orb of one another. On Feb 16 and March 3 + 6, they will be forming exact conjunctions.

Typically this yearly conjunction lasts for a few days, but due to Venus moving a little slower lately, this year’s conjunction spans over 5 weeks. If we are assigning gendered energy to the planets, Mars would be the planet of the divine masculine, while Venus would be the planet of the divine feminine. Mars governs things like our motivations, our sex drive, how we take action, how we initiate. Venus is more receptive - it governs things like love, beauty, relationships, harmony, peace.

The combination of these two planets is interesting, and because they will be hanging out together longer than usual, the affects of this conjunction will be longer lasting. It can invite some spice into our relationships. It can urge us to ask for what we want. To turn up the volume on the passion + heat. Our desires + needs, sexually and relationally, will take center stage.

*Note: some astrologers use wider orbs, which means they consider this conjunction to last longer.

2.18 - Pisces season begins

Pisces season will last from February 18 - March 19 this year.

Pisces is the sign of the mystic, the dreamer. It is a spiritual and intuitive and sensitive and empathetic sign. During Pisces season, it is a great time (for all of us, regardless of whether or not you “are a Pisces”) to connect with our intuition. To get in touch with our higher selves. To dive into spiritual practices.

This particular Pisces season is extra powerful, because both Neptune and Jupiter (Pisces’ ancient + modern ruler, respectively) will be in Pisces as well.

Have you been wanting to start a meditation practice but have put it off? Does journaling or stream of consciousness writing resonate with you more? Maybe yoga or breathwork?

From Feb 18 - March 19 this year, it’s a good time to try anything that allows you to create space for your intuition + soul to really come through. To get in touch with the deeper part of ourselves that we can often neglect in the busyness of life. Now is the time to drop in.
